Featured Etsy Shop: DamnFrenchDesserts

Today's featured artists come from DamnFrenchDesserts, all the way from Madrid, Spain!

Hi, these are Damn French Desserts, purveyor of exquisite knick knack. In our Etsy store you will primarily find stationery little wonders and digital works but we also work a la cárte, because we enjoy taking our customer's challenges, so if you take a look around you will find that we have designed websites, banners, wedding sets and even scented sachets … so I guess the sky is the limit.

Our headquarter is established in Madrid, where me and my sister live, design and enjoy life as much as they can!

Since we were little, we've always been fond of almost every aspects of creative activity: drawing, writing, taking pictures, painting … but it wasn't until December 2008 that we decided to open our store in Etsy, which -due to our daily jobs' duties as personal assistant / shopper for a wardrobe designer- remained empty for almost a year. Some people say "it didn't happen if you didn't write it down", in our case it seemed it wasn't going to happen if we didn't show some of our items to the world, so that's what we did. And it happened, we started selling :)

We both are fascinated by the late nineteenth and early twentieth centuries. It was such an amazing time full of inventions that changed the world completely. We love the old books and catalogues from those years … diving into the antique encyclopaedias and those anatomy compendiums that could be equally fascinating and spooky.

Here are some of our favorite shops on Etsy. We've found cool talented people behind each one of them.

Wondrous Curiosa: Anna's new adventure, a whimsical place and a must for victorian era lovers!

Time Moving Slow: Gorgeous and intriguing photographies taken by Anna Lazaro, one time Damn French Desserts official photographer and co-designer. Right now she's in the process of renovating it, but you will find fine art photography once the shop is re-opened.

Sinners Saints Sweets: Sinfully delicious cupcakes and confections! The Homer Simpson inside me wants it all!

DeweyDecimalCrafts: Crocheted skulls for all occasions. Their little crocheted skulls always put a smile on our faces!

Tattoo Socks: Gorgeous is not even the word to describe their stockings! A brand new concept for sexy and elegant.

Our site has been under construction for years … but finally (and hopefully)before this coming December, Damnfrenchdesserts.com will be more than a single page hosting leading to our Etsy store. It will be an illustrated catalogue and a place to share our thoughts.

Thanks so much for reading this far! Feel free to visit us anytime. Coffee and pastries are on us.
