My Totally Random Collection

If you know me, or have read my blog in any amount of detail, then you probably know that I am a bit of a collector.

Antique photographs, Victorian fashion prints, party dresses (I haven't trotted out my dresses for you yet?  Oh, that will be next then!)....I love collecting stuff.  I love researching my acquisitions, arranging, displaying, and rearranging them again.

So what is my most random collection?  Well, hang on to your hats....

....it's vintage creamers.

Okay, so it's not the most exciting thing out there.  And when you think about it, they may be kind of odd for a vegan to collect...but I just love them.  Why not just collect tea cups you may ask?  There's nothing wrong with those, but there's just something about creamers.

Left: A gold and green transferware creamer...you know I love my gilding!  Right: Creamers add a cute touch as decorations

Maybe it's their shapes.  All they're meant to do is pour cream (or almond milk!), but there is such a wide range of shapes and sizes for this simple function.  I love how some are slender and elegantly proportioned, while others are squat and top-heavy.  I love how they make perfect little vases for a bouquet of garden roses, or a recepticle for stray jewelry on your dresser.  I also use them as photo props for my shop sometimes.  Maybe finding purposes for them helps me justify acquiring them :)

A study in contrast: same function, different forms!

I'm curious about what you think.  Do you have a totally random collection of something?  What draws you to it and why?  Tell me about it in the comments!
